Skills

• 10 years experience web coding & design - I have built many websites and web applications from the ground up. This experience has provided me with a solid framework of knowledge in the areas of software architecture and scalability, database design, object oriented programming, as well as issues more central to web design like SEO best practices, optimization of frontend page loads, and the separation of control and view logic.
• 7 years experience server administration - I am heavily involved in Dev Ops at Robofirm and have built a suite of Puppet modules on which we run our client sites. I have strong experience with Redhat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS, Apache 2.2, Apache 2.4, Nginx, PHP-FPM, Percona MySQL, Redis, Varnish, Memcached, NFS mounts, Load balancing, Database replication, and other related technologies. I also managed a Microsoft Exchange Server performing functions of backup, user management, spam & virus control, printer & fax management, and chat server setup & administration.

   Duties: Develop e‐commerce solutions for mid‐size to large companies which integrate with client’s current ERP systems. Projects based on Magento, PHP, and Zend Framework. Currently working on a Magento website with SAP integration for products, customers, pricing, and sales orders.

1. Charming Charlie
   www.charmingcharlie.com - Full build of a fashion retail magento site with significant customizations around color swatch. Color was very important to Charming Charlie since their stores are organized by color. We wanted to provide a similar experience online, so we built a "Shop by color" toolbar and navigation flow. The merchant team also has full control over what colors display for each color in the category view page. When filtering by a color, all product images are of that color. All swatches are displayed, but a swatch within the color family of the filter is pre-selected and that product's image is displayed
2. Loxa Beauty
   www.loxabeauty.com - Robofirm helped Sally Beauty Holdings in creating a new market of online sales of hair products direct to consumers via an online channel. Traditionally, name brand hair products are offered exclusively through salons. Sally Beauty came up with a business model that made it appealing to salons, stylists, and hair product manufacturers to get on board. Loxa Beauty has proven to be a tremendous success and we are continuing to improve upon it.
3. Sol Republic
   www.solrepublic.com - Robofirm helped Sol Republic launch a fully responsive website with a strong focus on design. Recently, we have moved them from cloud architecture to physical hardware and they have seen significant performance improvement.
4. Hanky Panky
   www.hankypanky.com - Full build of a women's intimates Magento site with customizations around personalization, color swatch, quick view, ajax add to cart, category banner as first image of category page, and other mostly frontend customizations. Integrates with Simparel ERP.
5. Park Place Dealerships
   www.parkplace.com - Full build of an automotive Magento site with 18 websites, integrations to E-Carlist and other automotive services, fully reponsive. This was interesting in regards to information architecture. The client had a hard rule that they had to keep separate domains for each dealership, so as you click around, you bounce from one domain to another. It certainly made for an interesting problem to solve. Bryte was lead on this. My primary contribution was management and display of makes, models, and model guides, navigation, and parts of the responsive build.

   www.designevolve.com - My web development company. This site provides a backend area where clients can view invoices and support tickets.
7. Boy Scouts of America
   www.scoutstuff.org - Upgrade of Magento 1.8 to 1.12 with significant code cleanup and custom business logic to maintain.
8. Shopforbags & Katydid Collection
   www.shopforbags.com, www.katydidcollection.com - Full build of a fashion apparel Magento site with significant custom functionality around color swatches and product display. Two different branded sites on a single Magento instance. One is B2C and the other focused on B2B.
9. Pokerwit
   www.pokerwit.com - A site to share poker hands and experience. As a user, you can set up a poker scenario with all cards played for all members with all steps and a final resolution. Other users may view the scenario and play through it making their own decisions. At the end, they can compare their decisions to yours and discuss. Built from scratch on Zend Framework 1. It was originally based on Pligg, but the benefits from Pligg were not strong enough to contend with the loss of flexibility of building from scratch. Ben assisted with design consulting.
